Coastal War

Coastal War, originally uploaded by Alan Runcie.

This is actually the remains of one of many poles which held wire rope in place. They were placed across Cullen Bay during WWII as the bay was a prime candidate for a landing invasion by Nazi Germany. The wires were to slow down the enemy on their way up the beach while the Allies laid down defensive machine gun fire.
