Reason why bullets kill discovered

I actually couldn't believe what I was reading when I first saw an article that appeared in the Sunday Times recently stating that BAE Systems were developing environmentally friendly lead free bullets!

BAE systems have stated that after intense warfare traditional bullets "can harm the environment and pose a risk to people"..........Eh????

Does this mean that its not actually the ripping and tearing of flesh and the shattering of bone as bullets fly through our bodies that causes the untimely departure to the great beyond but is instead a sudden dose of lead poisoning?

"Oh, sorry pal I didn't mean to shoot you in the head but its okay, they're lead free bullets, you'll be fine"

If that's the case why don't we just bin bullets altogether and go to war using Super Soakers that way nobody gets hurts, the battle zone will get a good watering and everyone ends up with a nice flower bed in springtime.

I vote for super soakers. Battles could be an olympics type thing with spectators and hot dogs. All lead free, of course.

I'm pretty sure they meant long term environmental effects. Like in those war torn countries all the survivors are crawling around in corpus amounts of lead bullets. But hey, maybe you're right I didn't read the article.

Either way it's a lame concern I'm sure more people die from actual bullets every year than bullet related lead poisoning.

You'd probably find if we started fighting wars with super soakers environmentalists would complain that we're wasting too much water.

You're right of course, it was to target long term damage to the environment.
But it's so absurd its beyond belief that an arms manufacturer is actually stating that they're concerned about the damage their bullets are causing to the environment while completely sidestepping the damage they do to everyone in the environment.

Don't be too quick to dismiss Super Soakers as harmless toys. Not only can they be fueled with various caustic liquids that could change the target's life forever, but they also make quite effective flame throwers. Check YouTube for demonstrations. Lawn Darts are safer.
